Childcare Solutions for the Busy WAHM

The main goal most parents have to work from home is to spend more time with their children. Why should someone else get the benefit of seeing your child grow and learn? Unfortunately, there will be times that you will need to arrange childcare so that you can tend to your business growth needs. Many work at home parents try to work while their child is asleep, as your child grows into the toddler stage, this becomes very difficult. Here are some ideas that may provide a solution for your childcare needs.

If you are involved in direct sales, you will often face this situation and need to find a solution. If you can schedule your meetings and sales presentations around your partner's schedule this would be the easiest solution. This way, your child is still being raised by one parent, not someone else. If your partner has an odd schedule or you are a single parent, maybe you could hire a local high school student to help during these times. If you are giving a presentation at a home party, check with your host and see if he or she can come along. He or she can tend to the children while you are there, and the attendance could very well be boosted! Face it, most parents have the same dilemma and will turn down a party invite because of the situation. If you offer a solution, they more than likely will attend, resulting in a boost in prospective sales for you.

You can also look at the possibility of a child care group. Friends and neighbors could be part of this group and each parent would designate a day of the week or month that they are the sitter. On that day, any parent that needs child care can drop their child off. The benefit of this option is that your child will be interacting with other children and if familiar with the group, should have no anxiety of your leaving them here.

Many churches offer a child care service for a few hours a day, check to see if your church offers it. Some are free or very low cost, so it is worth checking out. If your local library offers story time this is a good option too. Many will do a craft and offer snack after the book is read – giving you an hour to get some work done. I do not leave my child alone there, but do take my laptop to complete business needs. You are still there, but your child is not looking to you for entertainment.

This concept works at home too, you can hire a teenager to come over and entertain your children so you can tend to business needs. Again, you are there if your child needs you, but someone else provides the interaction they seek. Maybe your family members could help you out as well. The more time you can devote to your business growth without hindering your children's growth the better. Get creative and do it. Do not put it off until tomorrow, take action on it today.

Never feel guilty about getting part-time child care to tend to business needs. If you never deal with business needs, you will not be able to financially provide for you children. By making sure your business is growing, you are ensuring financial success and can focus completely on your children during the time you devote to them.
